The Kiss

The kiss by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec was the picture I chose to write my blog about this week. I picked this picture because the red in the background really stood out to me. The purpose of this painting in my opinion is to give of the impression of love or lust. I think that this painting is more for younger generations, only because younger generations are more concerned with love and lust. It maybe for younger generations, but not too young, if the audience is too young they won’t quite understand the painting. Sometimes we think we are in love but we are only blinded by our emotions in the moment. The media of this painting is clearly print. The painting I would say to be happening at night, maybe after a night out on the town.

The Only Book

If you were told that you could save just one book for future generations, which book would you choose and why?
One book that I would save would be Tears of a Tiger. I read this book in my freshman year English class and it moved me. Tears of a Tiger is about high school students celebrating a victory after a basketball game. There is drinking and driving involved. Four guy friends are in the car together while only one friend did not drink, he was not the one who was driving. The boys crashed into a wall and three of the four got out ok. The boy who wasn’t drinking was trapped inside the car, although his friends tried to free him, he burned to death after the gas tank exploded. Andy the boy who was driving the vehicle blames his self for the death of his friend. He cannot no get him out of his mind; he is losing sight of his future and does not know if he will live or die. I believe this book should be read in all high schools, because it is very realistic and shows the effects of drinking and driving. It may be a sad story to read but I believe all high school students can relate to this story.

Halloween

What are you likes and dislikes as they pertain to Halloween? Did you trick or treat as a kid? What are your fond memories of past Halloweens?
Halloween to me is a fun holiday for children. I like to pass out candy to the little children in my neighborhood and see their cute costumes. When I was younger I always went trick or treating with my older brother and sister.  I think that it is a fun experience for children to have when they are younger to have the memories when they are older. But also some kids take it too far during Halloween. One year my brother Jesse and his friend Zach got shot with a bb-gun, because someone wanted their bags of candy. People need to watch their children and make sure that they do not cross the street back in forth in between each house. That really bothers me, because people in my neighborhood do not drive the fastest and some little kid will get hit.
One of my most fond memories of Halloween was my junior year. I was an officer on top four and Mariah and I got the chance to make up the first dance of our Halloween show. It was the first year we ever had a Halloween show and I thought it was really cool that I got to help make up the first dance. The song that we had to dance to was Thriller. Still today I have Warriorette’s talking to me about that dance. It was a fun routine to make up and I’m glad the girls had fun dancing to it.
If you could change one thing about Wright State, what would it be?
If I could change one thing about Wright State it would most definitely have to be the parking situation. When I come to school any later than 10 am, I would be driving around for a half hour trying to find a parking spot, near where I need to be. If you can’t find a parking spot you have to park in lot 4. Lot 4 is the biggest lot but it is also the furthest from the school. If you have to park in lot 4 and the weather is bad, you will not be a happy person. If it is raining outside you will be soaked by the time you reached your car.

I think that Wright State needs to invest in building a parking garage. I think that it would be very helpful and it would be worth spending the money. I do believe that there are too many parking spots for the staff and not enough for the commuter students. Most of Wright State’s student population is commuter students and they are not meeting the demands of the students. During the day when I walk outside I see teacher’s parking spots empty and students driving around in circles trying to find a parking spot, because the parking for students is so limited.
